Construction Updates

October 2025:
Alhamdulillah, we’ve accomplished the following activities from November 2024 until August 2025.

Excavation of the land and fine grading of phases 1 & 2 have been fully completed.

Fully finished the main water line connection, fire hydrants, and other related tasks for phases 1 & 2.

The main sanitary sewer installation is 100% complete, along with the manholes and other deliverables for phases 1 & 2.

The storm drain from the masjid property, which drains into Maxwell Creek through a culvert, has been successfully completed. We have also installed inlets and a headwall near the creek area.

All the crossings for electrical, gas, internet, camera, and landscaping have been installed.

Completed three-phase electric connection with two new poles, including the transformer pad.

Paving: Completed fire lane for phase-1 and phase-2 buildings. The parking lot for 250 cars, along with the right turn lane on McMillen Road, has been fully completed. We will be focusing on the remaining 50 spaces after the completion of phase-1 building structure.

After approving the inspection of the above activities and reviewing the building plans multiple times, the city of Murphy has approved the permit for vertical construction of the building on August 1st, 2025.

Alhamdulillah, we have paid around $1.1 million to accomplish all the above tasks. We have also paid the full note payment without any interest for 113 McMillen Dr in the amount of $321,000. This property is now free and clear.

We are working with multiple building contractors to get good bids for our Masjid’s vertical construction. We have decided to start the construction by utilizing the subcontractors, and this is the best way to save a lot of money.

Now we have to focus on installing piers, complete plumbing work for phase-1, and the foundation of the Masjid. We are planning to start these tasks in the first week of November 2025.

At present, we have around $230k in the bank; we need the remaining $600k to finish the above three tasks (Piers, Plumbing & foundation). After this, we will be starting the steel structure of the Masjid during the month of January 2026, and we need another $700k approximately.

Note: We still have to receive half of the outstanding pledges from the last fundraising in December 2024 and Ramadan 2025. Please fulfill your commitments at your earliest convenience.

October 2024:

Alhamdulilah, we’ve accomplished the following goals from October 2023.

* Purchased extra land of two parcels (111 & 113 McMillen Dr).

* Revised the site plan multiple times and got approval from the city.

* Increased the square footage of the building (phase 1 & 2) from 15,000 to 24,000 sqft and now to 32,000 sqft.

* Revised the architectural drawings and other plans to include a 32,000 sqft building. The size of the sanctuary or prayer hall is now comparable with the biggest Masaajid of DFW.

* Worked with the Mayor to reduce the share of McMillen road improvement cost by IAM Masjid from $800k to $396k. In Sha Allah we are working with the city to ask for more reduction. The city has agreed to construct the McMillen Rd, bridge, and installation of the traffic signal at the intersection of McMillen and Murphy with an estimated expenditure of $4+ million.

* Approval of all the civil engineering plans from the city council.

* Demolished and hauled off all the materials of three preexisting homes, workshops, and garages. Also, have cut 24+ trees and hauled them off.

* Applied twice with the city to get the approval of a 70 ft. building line from the northern residential property line of the Masjid property. The board of adjustment had denied the variance the first time. Applied with P&Z and was denied as well. Alhamdulillah, the biggest achievement is the approval of a 70 ft. building line with the city council with a supermajority.

* Alhamdulillah, received the grading permit to start the work.

* Worked with multiple contractors and companies to get reasonable bids. Alhamdulillah, we have been able to save around $370K until now ($300K in consultants’ & project management fees and 70K in construction). In Sha Allah, we are trying our best to save more in the future.
